Set-up connectivity zones, manage bandwidth and ensure security with Aero+ Onboard Software Tools

VVIP, Head of State (HoS) aircraft have unique connectivity requirements. This African presidential A319CJ operator chose Eclipse Global Connectivity for a tailored cabin communications solution. To address the distinctive needs, the comprehensive package included our Aero+ Onboard Software Tools, Honeywell JetWave SATCOM equipment, cabin network hardware, our SATCOM Universal Mounting System (SUMS) antenna installation system with associated certifications and modification kits. We also supply the Inmarsat GX (Global Xpress) Ku-band satellite airtime.

This presidential operator needed secure connectivity with bandwidth prioritization. The resulting solution enables key communications and entertainment capabilities including Voice over IP (VoIP) telephony, streaming on-demand IPTV and more.

Aero+ Software Tools deliver key management and network security capabilities
Aero+ tools can be used on any device, and offer a variety of optional capabilities specifically designed for large, long-range HoS aircraft like this presidential A319CJ. Equipping the cabin network hardware with Aero+ means the aircraft network administrator has full control over the network. Using the Aero+ bandwidth assignment tool, administrators can set-up various connectivity zones, allocate bandwidth, monitor its usage, and manage device network access. A key feature, the security tool, uses filters to help reduce airtime costs by not allowing device updates while on the satellite-based internet connection.

The network optimization feature enhances the passenger connectivity experience, and comes with an automatic or manual network fail-safe, to avoid network drop-offs. In addition, it has an easy to configure and turn-on, built-in PBX which enables secure, high-quality VoIP calls. Plus, the payment portal option helps operators, who might charter their aircraft when not in use, to manage airtime costs.

In addition, Aero+ tools offer augmented firewall functionality and internet domain filtering for enhanced security. The Aero+ suite of tools is equipped with refined bandwidth assignment controls for greater flexibility. SUMS and STCs for ease of installation

Another important element of this HoS solution is Eclipse Global Connectivity’s SATCOM Universal Mounting System installation kit and associated STCs. Already deployed on A319/320/321, A330, A340, B777 and B747 aircraft, we designed it specifically for the JetWave SATCOM antenna. SUMS is lightweight, needs less maintenance and requires fewer holes in the fuselage—an important factor for leased aircraft. In addition, we have a broad range of STCs for many popular VVIP and government aircraft types such as the A320 family, A330 and A340, plus the B777 and B747. SUMS is a proven solution having been installed on more than 90 aircraft.
